Biography

Sarah Daugherty, PhD MPH, is a Principal Scientist at Carelon Research with expertise in genetic epidemiology, oncology, health outcomes research, and patient-centered outcomes research. In her role at Carelon Research, Dr. Daugherty provides senior leadership and oversight for a broad range of patient-centered research studies using qualitative and quantitative methods. Dr. Daugherty values multi-stakeholder engagement to ensure the development of meaningful and relevant research and has co-produced innovative research in partnership with a broad array of healthcare research stakeholders.

Prior to joining Carelon Research, she led prospective and retrospective cohort studies in the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics at the National Cancer Institute, oversaw comparative effectiveness research studies at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), and most recently provided scientific leadership as a Principal Consultant at Optum Genomics, United Health Group.  Dr. Daugherty has published numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts across a wide-range of topics and has served as a guest lecturer over the past decade at George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health.
