Pain Points Associated with Analyses of Real-World Data Sources: A Survey

February 16, 2024

To inform an upcoming ISPOR 2024 workshop, David Thompson of Rubidoux Research is fielding a brief survey to solicit data from healthcare researchers involved in the analysis of secondary sources of RWD (primarily claims and electronic health records [EHRs]) to generate real-world evidence.

It encompasses a range of issues related to study design and conduct:

  • Identifying fit-for-purpose RWD sources.
  • Specifying a rigorous study design.
  • Combining available coded variables (eg., ICD for diagnoses, CPT for procedures, NDC for prescription drugs, LOINC for labs, etc.) in algorithms to identify study patients as well as their interventions and outcomes of care.
  • Selecting appropriate statistical methods for data analysis.

Completion of the survey should take approximately five minutes and aggregated responses will be shared in a subsequent post as well as at the ISPOR 2024 workshop (Session W1, May 6, 10:15-11:15 ET). Feel free to share this post with people you know who are intimately involved in this work—the larger the sample, the better the insights!

The survey will remain open through April 30, 2024.

Please note that this survey is completely anonymous. No email addresses or any other identifying information on survey respondents will be collected.
