Zuckerberg’s CZI Invests $250 Million in Advanced Cellular Medicine Project: The New York Biohub

Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are investing $250 million over ten years to establish a “biohub” in New York City through their Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI). This biohub aims to develop cellular machines to monitor the body and eliminate diseases. The New York Biohub, which follows the San Francisco Biohub and the Chicago Biohub, is still looking for a home base and a team of scientists. The novel project plans to understand how immune cells successfully combat diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s, with the ultimate goal of engineering cells for disease detection and treatment. The project blends advances in immunology and cell engineering and aims to step beyond what cellular medicine has achieved so far.
