White Paper: Connecting Patient-level Clinical Trial Data to Real World Data

February 23, 2022

Gaps between real world data (RWD) and data from clinical trials slow progress by obfuscating long-term outcomes and efficacy. A new white paper from Medidata demonstrates how linking clinical trial data and RWD can advance evidence generation. As an alternative to in-house data linkage, the company’s Medidata Link platform can facilitate data linkage without the risk of deidentification or unblinding.

According to the white paper, “86% of clinical trials are delayed by one to six months during pre-trial complex screening and baselining— costing time, money, and hindering patient data collection. On average, clinical trials have a 28% patient attrition rate and a two to three year wait to accumulate RWD.”
