Verana Launches Real-World Evidence-Driven Clinical Trial Site Selection Platform

Verana Health has launched VeraSite, a new platform that uses real-world evidence (RWE) to help clinical trial sponsors select clinical trial sites. The tool uses electronic health records (EHR) to identify locations with large eligible patient populations. With this platform, Verana hopes to address one of the biggest challenges facing clinical trials – recruitment.
According to Andrea Sim of Verana, “Globally, more than 80% of trials fail to meet enrollment deadlines, resulting in costly extensions, addition of new study sites, or outright study failure. That is simply not an acceptable level of efficiency. With VeraSite, we’ve created a real-world evidence-driven solution to that challenge, allowing sponsors and CROs to optimize site selection based on a complete view of the entire patient landscape. This is an enormous step forward in improving efficiency and diversity in ophthalmology clinical trials, and it opens up tremendous new opportunities for clinicians and patients to become more involved in clinical trials”
