District Court Case Could End Access to Abortion Pills in US

A District Court judge in Texas will decide the fate of access to abortion pills in the US. Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, appointed to his office by Donald Trump, could decide to overrule the Food and Drug Administration’s long-standing approval of one of two drugs used for pharmaceutical abortions or limit access – even outside of the Lone Star State.

According to Alice Miranda Ollstein and Adam Cancryn, “While the Biden administration plans to swiftly appeal any ruling against the pills — which could come any time after lawyers for both sides submit their briefs on Friday — advocates say they are not counting on federal leaders to take the sweeping actions they believe are needed to deal with the potential loss of the country’s most-used method of abortion.”
