Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine Puts Over 200 Clinical Trials in Jeopardy

The war in Ukraine may impact a substantial amount of clinical trials, adding greater uncertainty to the growing humanitarian crisis. Around 2,500 medical centers in Ukraine can run international trials, with approximately 500 trials being run in said facilities each year. Although few pharma companies hold manufacturing facilities in the country, many have employees whose safety is paramount.

According to an AstraZeneca spokesperson, “The safety and wellbeing of AstraZeneca employees remains our top priority and we have taken steps to support colleagues. Furthermore, a team has been established which will do the utmost to ensure continued supply of our medicines to patients.”
