New ISPOR Article Highlights Need for Clearly Defining Fit-For-Purpose RWD in Oncology Research, Reveals UReQA RWD Selection Framework

August 2, 2021

Fit-for-purpose real world data (RWD) is an attractive source of decision-making data. Multiple stakeholders, including regulatory affairs professionals and payers, have increasingly turned to such data. However, a lack of consensus surrounding the term leads to confusion and uncertainty, according to a new article published in ISPOR’s Value & Outcomes Spotlight magazine. The authors introduce the Use-case specific Relevance and Quality Assessment (UReQA) framework to assess RWD database offerings.

According to the authors, “The framework was developed for evaluation of commercial database offerings in the United States and is based on learnings from quality assessments to support retrospective outcomes studies in oncology. Our aim was to combine the “relevance” and “quality” dimensions of RWD assessment into a single framework to inform the choice of fit-for-purpose RWD to address specific scientific questions.” Read more here.
