National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine Released Pro-Pharma Report on $750 Million in Yearly Prescription Drug Waste Following Undisclosed Pharma Donations

Congress tasked the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine with providing an impartial view of the $750 million in wasted drugs each year. However, pharma has both directly and indirectly supported the group and its members. The National Academy of Sciences received donations amounting to $10 million from pharma while two committee members either worked at a pharma company or consulted for as many as 13 drug companies.

“The fact that those relationships were not disclosed in the final report by an organization charted in 1863 to advise the nation amounts to “egregious” failures, said Sheldon Krimsky, a Tufts University professor and expert on conflicts of interest in science.” Read more here.
