Looking Back at the Formulary System in 1997

AMCP Fellow Steven Avey in a recent article published in JMCP goes back to 1997 to look at how the formulary system has evolved over time.
Avey highlights a 1997 article published in JMCP, “Managing the Pharmacy Benefit: The Formulary System,” which he describes as “inspiring.”
“It was written when the formulary development process was young, yet the author looked forward, postulating future ways in which formularies could be used within the managed care pharmacy system,” Avey writes.
