Lark Health Among Recent Push Towards Decentralized Clinical Trials

February 8, 2022

Lark Health and Curavit are teaming up for a decentralized clinical for their new chronic disease prevention and management app. They join a wave of small to medium-sized companies pivoting towards the format. They see it as an opportunity to get a more representative participant population that is reflective of the patients who will use the software if approved.

According to Oralee Branch in a PharmaVoice article written by Kelly Bilodeau, “In conventional trials, which are typically brick and mortar or in-person trials, the people who end up participating are a select group. They are what you’d call a biased collection of participants. These are people who are willing and able to travel to the facility where the trial is conducted. People who join trials are sometimes more health conscious than the average person, or more likely to be from an urban versus a rural area. Participants also tend to be less diverse, or from different socioeconomic backgrounds than the general public.”
