Labcorp Ramps Up Monkeypox Testing Capabilities

As monkeypox continues to spread across the world, Labcorp has announced that it is increasing its testing capabilities at its national lab. The company noted that it can now run 10,000 tests a week from its lab in North Carolina, US. The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has verified the accuracy of Labcorp’s PCR test, relying on it to monitor and, hopefully, mitigate the outbreak.

According to John Carroll, “The CDC is tracking close to 7,000 worldwide cases, with clusters in several European countries. That’s up from 5,800 on Friday. And with limited testing, a number of experts say it’s likely that the cases are being undercounted.”
