ISPOR Value in Health Regional: Cost of Multiple Sclerosis in Iran

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic illness characterized by an autoimmune attack on the central nervous system that is associated with a high human and economic cost. In a newly published article in ISPOR’s Value in Health Regional Issues, authors assess the direct and indirect costs of MS in Isfahan, the third largest city in Iran. The researchers looked at 300 patients with MS in two major care centers in the city.
According to , “Patient’s demographic characteristics, disease information, and annual social costs (2018-2019) were collected using data collection form. Both the human-capital and friction-cost methods were applied and compared with value indirect costs because of loss of productivity.”
