Bangladesh has the highest out-of-pocket (OOP) healthcare expenditure in South Asia except for Afghanistan, with the outlay rising every year, found a recent study by the health ministry. As a result, about 8.6 million people are becoming poor every year, according to the study conducted by the Health Economics Unit (HEU) of the health ministry.
