Going Below the Surface Highlights Health Spending

March 19, 2020

Going Below the Surface, a National Pharmaceutical Council initiative launched in 2018, in a recent newsletter highlights health care spending issues, including a recent study in JAMA.

The study by Dieleman et. al. breaks down spending data between 1996-2016 by payers and disease conditions.

“Unsurprisingly, the findings show that spending is not distributed equally among public insurance, private insurance and out-of-pocket payments, nor are all conditions created equal when it comes to the U.S. total cost burden,” the newsletter states.
