Gen Z Values Social Determinants of Health Screenings in Healthcare Settings

Social determinants of health (SODH) are increasingly being recognized for their role in health disparities. However, it isn’t just health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) experts paying attention. A study published in the Journal of Adolescent Health surveyed 1,156 people between the ages 14 to 24 on their opinions of the role of healthcare providers in addressing SODH.

According to Erica Carbajal, “The findings showed a quarter of respondents wanted their providers to provide resources regarding social needs, 13 percent said providers could help by providing referrals, and 22 percent said general advice could be helpful, while 11 percent simply wanted their providers to listen.”
