September 21, 2023

The Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) has announced ten new international genomic data initiatives, bringing the total number of GA4GH Driver Projects to 28, involving 113 countries. These projects seek to implement GA4GH’s genomic data standards in biomedical research and medicine and will give voice to a broader genomics community. The new projects will access about four million genomes and more than 15 petabytes of data. The seven projects joining GA4GH are the Biomedical Research Hub, the Human Pangenome Project, Immunotherapy Centers of Research Excellence, the International Precision Child Health Partnership, NHLBI BioData Catalyst, the NIH Cloud Platform Interoperability effort, and the Repository of the International Fetal Genomics Consortium. Three more projects are expected to join GA4GH in the coming weeks.
