EMD Serono to Relocate Headquarters to Boston’s Seaport District, Embracing Hybrid Work and Collaboration

EMD Serono, the US pharma subsidiary of Merck KGaA, is set to move its headquarters to Boston’s Seaport district from Rockland (25 miles south) next summer. This area of Boston has recently become an innovation hub for healthcare, with over 25 companies established there. The company will occupy a 60,000-square-foot space that can house 200 to 400 Rockland-based employees, with the rest requested to work remotely. The move intends to support hybrid working and encourage collaboration. EMD Serono also operates an R&D facility 25 miles northeast of Boston, which will remain in operation. The Seaport district already hosts several other biotechnology and life sciences companies.
