Which Factors Drive Specialty Drug Expenditures?

The Managed Healthcare Executive Pharmacy Survey asked respondents questions related to specialty drug expenditures in 2021. Most of the 225 respondents thought that factors driving these expenditures included the COVID-19 pandemic and a shift from traditional to specialty medications in common diseases, as well as increased demand due to an unhealthy aging population.

“In this portion of MHE’s survey, respondents answered a couple more questions about specialty drug spending and what is likely to be the most significant change in contracts between plan sponsors and PBMs in the near future.” Read more here.
